Glossary
Acrylic Finishes
A treatment for the exterior surfaces of aluminum or stainless steel
Aerospace Coatings
High Performance Coatings for Aerospace applications
Anti Graffiti paint Systems
Specialist coatings designed and developed to help protect surfaces from graffiti, glue from fly posters, pollution and grime, namely, anti graffiti and anti fly poster coatings. Not only can the graffiti and pollution have a harmful effect on the surface of a building in the first instance but repeated cleaning can also damage the integrity of the surface, which can cause other problems.
Chemical Agent Resistant Coatings
(C.A.R.C) A layer of a substance spread over a surface for protection or decoration; a covering layer.
Decorative Coatings
Defence Standards
E.M.I Coatings
Electromagnetic interference (or EMI, also called radio frequency interference or RFI when in high frequency or radio frequency) is disturbance that affects an electrical circuit due to either electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic radiation emitted from an external source
Electrostatic Coatings
Electrostatic painting is a clean, on site, coating system that minimises disruption to your place of work. The electrostatic spraying system is recognised by the Health & Safety Executive as the most efficient method of applying paint, as there is virtually no over spray.
Enamelling
Coat or decorate (a metallic or hard object) with enamel.
Epoxy Finishes
Hammer Finishes
Heat Resistance Finishers
Finishes designed to show little or no deterioration on continuous or intermittent exposure to an elevated temperature
I.S.O. Registered Finishers
ISO is the globally recognized standard for the quality management of businesses. ISO 9002 applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organization supplies. It prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met, and is designed and intended to apply to virtually any product or service, made by any process anywhere in the world.
Lacquers
A varnish, consisting of a solution of shell-lac in alcohol, often colored with gamboge, saffron, or the like; -- used for varnishing metals
Leatherette
Low Emission Coatings
Low emission is a quality of a surface that radiates, or emits, low levels of radiant thermal (heat) energy. All materials absorb, reflect and emit radiant energy
Marine Coatings
Metallic Paints
Metallic paint, also called polychromatic or (incorrectly) "metal flake" paint, is a type of paint that is commonly used on new automobiles. Metallic paint can reveal the contours of bodywork more than non-metallic, or "solid" paint, Close-up, the small metal flakes included in the paint create a sparkling effect.
MOD Paint Systems
Paint system used for MOD and defence
Nextel Coatings
Paints for Plastics
Specialist paint for use on plastics
Polyester Powders
Polyurethanes
Powder Coating
Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form.
Primers
Primer is the base of flat paint that is painted on a surface first.
Quick Drying Finishes
R.F.I Coatings
(RFI) Electromagnetic radiation which is emitted by electrical circuits carrying rapidly changing signals, as a by-product of their normal operation, and which causes unwanted signals (interference or noise) to be induced in other circuits.
Rust Inhibiting Coatings
A paint formulated with a corrosive-resistant pigment (such as lead chro-mate, zinc chromate, or red lead) and a chemical and moisture-resistant binder; used to protect iron and steel surfaces.
Stove Enamelling
A type of enamel made heatproof by treatment in a stove
